Neti Pots
A
recommendation for neti pots on the Oprah Winfrey show as "the answer to
your sinus woes" has generated considerable interest in this form of
alternative medicine. According to the Oprah website:
It may look like a watering can or a genie bottle, but a neti pot—or
"nose bidet"—may actually be the answer to your sinus woes. For thousands of
years, Dr. Oz says people have been using similar devices to wash out their
noses.
By pouring warm water from the neti pot into your nose, you can stimulate
your sinuses and help clear out mucus. If the fluid builds up in your
sinuses and causes pressure, you will experience pain, Dr. Oz says. This
condition is known as sinusitis—inflammation of the sinuses.

* The design isn't perfect and the price is high, but for dedicated Neti
users, this pot is great for travel. It weighs almost nothing and won't get
smashed in your suitcase. I am happy to have and travel with this product.
And here are some Amazon.com review of the SinuCleanse Neti Pot System.
* After seeing it on Oprah, I thought it was worth a shot. At first I
felt silly trying to figure out how to use this contraption. But even after
the first try, I felt very clear. I suffer from constant allergies and sinus
infections, so anything to avoid them works for me. Anyhow, from my
experience it really works. It clears out my nostrils and I breathe so much
easier. I highly recommend this product to anyone that wants to breathe a
little better.
* Okay, if you can get over the initial discomfort of a bit of stinging
and only breathing out of your mouth for 10 seconds....it's not that
uncomfortable. I have been using it for 4 weeks now and it's one of those
things that when you are using it, you don't realize how much it helps but
when you stop using it, you know it! If you have really bad sinuses (which I
do occasionally), you will get IMMEDIATE relief. Be prepared for family
members thinking you are gross though. When you use it, a lot of mucous
excretes from the nasal passages (but that's a good thing) and family
members might not be as happy to see this in their bathroom sink. Okay,
that's what sink cleaners are for.
