Air-O-Swiss Humidifier
The most popular of the company's products is its Air-O-Swiss 7135 Ultrasonic Humidifier The use of the pre-heat function means that the mist is emitted at a temperature of 104 degrees, although the device has the ability to monitor changes in room temperatures and adjust the heat of the mist accordingly. A replaceable demineralization cartridge ensures a water mist without lime scale or mineral residues. This Air-O-Swiss humidifier has been given the "Quietest humidifier" award by the ConsumerSearch website, and AllergyBuyersClub.com says it is its "best rated and most reliable" model. The 7135 model retails for $180, but you should be able to find it for under $155 at online discount outlets like Amazon.com Also very popular is the Air-O-Swiss 7144 Wired magazine also reviewed the 7144 at length, awarding it 8 points out of 10, and concluded: WIRED Extremely quiet humidifier produces ultra-fine mist in either a cool or warm, near-body temperature to enhance up to a 650 foot room's atmosphere. Low 40-watt power consumption and various timer settings let you control room humidity even more and its 3.5 gallon reservoir lasts more than 24 hours of solid use. TIRED Awkward water basin refills can be messy. Dowdy chassis design adds little to the feng shui of your room. A third popular model is the Air-O-Swiss 7146 Travel Ultrasonic Humidifier I use it at McMurdo Station, Antarctica where the average humidity is in the single digits. It puts out less water than my full-size Air-O-Swiss unit at home, but a remarkable amount for a unit this size. The blue light that others have complained about is fairly bright - as most blue LEDs are - but it's no brighter than most night-lights, and hasn't bothered my sleep. The blue light switches to a red light when the water runs out... kind of a nice heads-up feature if you don't have the output set high enough to see the "steam" coming from the spout. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to make this purchase again, and I'd replace this unit with the same if needed (unless or until Air-O-Swiss comes out with their own new replacement/upgrade). There are a couple other copies that are less expensive, but I haven't tried them - I went with the quality/service that I trusted at the cost of the higher price tag. * Get the Latest Prices on Air-O-Swiss Humidifier See also my report Buyers Guide to the Best Humidifiers.
