Desert Spring Humidifier
With the introduction of our flagship Rotary Disc Humidifier [picture] in 1996, Desert Spring Products revolutionized residential by-pass humidification. The impact of the Rotary Disc was recognized in 2008 by Frost & Sullivan, a leading independent market research and business consulting company, who presented the Company with the North American Residential Humidity Controls Product Innovation of the Year Award. The Rotary Disc Humidifier has also been featured in several leading periodicals and appeared on television programs such Home Check TV and Good Morning America. Our commitment to continuous improvement means we are constantly striving to evolve by improving our existing products and developing new ideas based on our customers’ feedback allowing us to deliver on our vision of being a leader in providing innovative, environmentally sustainable residential indoor air quality solutions. The website also tells you where you can buy the Desert Spring humidifier (it is not currently on sale at outlets like Amazon.com). A lot of reviews are online. The Canadian Tire website has some. Here is one of the most favorable: This is simply the best furnace-based humidifier I have ever used. It performs exactly as advertised, and is the first humidifier I have owned that is actually able to bring the humidity up to the desired setting in my house. In the past, with power drum and drip humidifiers, I needed to supplement with a large Holmes floor-standing humidifier (which did the trick but was noisy and in the way). In addition to its performance, it is very easy to drain, disassemble and clean. I now have several friends who have switched over to the Desert Spring, and they are happy as well. The only complaint I have (not related to the humidifier) is that, because I live in a hard water area and don't have softened water, I ordered the optional in-line filter to remove calcium from the water before entering the humidifier. Unfortunately, the filter simply plugged up immediately and water was unable to flow. It wasn't plugged with calcium, but the gel contents of the filter simply 'gooped' up the system. I took it off and it runs fine now; I simply need to descale the evaporation disks a couple of times a year with CLR spray. The High Q Products website also carries reviews: I bought and installed your humidifier on my furnace late last summer. In the previous 10 years, I had installed 4 different humidifiers and replaced 100s of pads. I had to replace pads every month, because they were completely clogged. I tried feeding these humidifiers with both hard water, and soft water, each fouled the pads. I was apprehensive when I ordered your humidifier. When I received it, I was very impressed with the quality and design. Installation was easy, and it has run without maintenance for 4 months, and still looks new. I also installed and highly recommend the autoflush unit, which I am convinced has a lot to do with how clean the humidifier still is. In actual operation, the house remains very comfortable, and there has yet to be a single electrical spark shooting out of anyone's finger. I am a very happy customer who highly recommends this product. Here is an Epinions review: Pros: Environmentally friendly consumption of water and electricity. Efficient delivery of whole house humidity. Cons: Unit is plastic and susceptible to breaking. Adjusting the float mechanism requires patience. The Bottom Line: This forced air furnace humidifier performs better than conventional humidifiers. The added benefit is the eco-friendly water and electricity consumption.
