Pedometers Reviews
Health and fitness publications, along with the health sections of daily newspapers, sometime feature pedometers reviews. However, there are just so many pedometers on the market nowadays that it is impossible for them to survey anything more than a limited selection of devices.
Search the internet and you will of course find reviews of many models, although not all these are absolutely objective. Online sales outlets like Amazon.com
have customer reviews, and these can provide helpful guidance, as they reflect actual user experiences.
In February 2009 Consumer Reports featured fitness equipment. For pedometers its rating were:
• Best buy: Omron HJ-112, $30. Ranked second: Accusplit AE190XLG, $35.
The Prevention website has a report on tests of 38 pedometers. Pedometer Fitness Fad Takes Off is a report from National Public Radio, with a guide to the most accurate models. A lengthy set of reviews is at The Anatomy of a Pedometer, from the JSC Engineering consulting group. The About.com website has many reviews.
And here are links to reports I've written, summarizing pedometers reviews of some of the most popular models:
