Heart Rate Monitor Reviews
 Hundreds of different kinds of heart rate monitor are now on the market, and it is probably impossible to find objective and independent reviews of all of them. However, a number of health and fitness publications place online some of their reviews of the most popular models.
Consumer Reports in February 2009 featured health equipment. The full results are for subscribers only, but you can read a summary here. It says:
Heart-rate monitor. The top-rated chest-strap type is Timex Personal Trainer 5G971 , $55; a close second: Acumen EON Basix Plus
[picture], $50. The top-rated wrist monitor with pedometer: Sportline Solo 960, $100.
The ConsumerSearch website compiles heart rate monitor reviews (as does this website). Its three top-rated devices are:
* Polar FT60
* Timex T5G971
* Omron HR-100C
Otherwise, Amazon.com
is a favorite place for finding user reviews. Be aware, though, of the limitations. Many users - in fact, most users, probably - have not used many other monitors, and so are not in a position to compare. They can only relate their own experiences, with one particular monitor. But still, this can provide very useful guidance for prospective purchasers.
