Heart Rate Monitor Review
 You can now find dozens and dozens of different kinds of heart monitor on the market. To do an objective and independent heart rate monitor review of them all would be virtualy impossible. Fortunately, some reviews are available on the internet from various health magazines.
In addition, Consumer Reports in February 2009 featured health equipment. The full results are for subscribers only, but you can read a summary here, which says:
Heart-rate monitor. The top-rated chest-strap type is Timex Personal Trainer 5G971 , $55; a close second: Acumen EON Basix Plus, $50. The top-rated wrist monitor with pedometer: Sportline Solo 960, $100.
The ConsumerSearch website compiles heart rate monitor reviews (as does this website). Its three top-rated devices are:

Otherwise, Amazon.com
is a favorite place for finding user reviews. However, it is necessary to be aware of the limitations. Many users will not have used other monitors, and so are not able to compare. They can only describe their own experiences, with their own particular monitor. Nevertheless, this can provide useful guidance for prospective buyers.
