Ukraine
has reported its first bird flu outbreak. It is still not known if it is the
H5N1 type. Four chickens in
eastern Romania have been diagnosed with the H5 strain of bird flu.

Russia has confirmed an
outbreak of H5N1 flu at a far, south of Moscow. Romania has announced
its second bird flu outbreak.
China
has also confirmed a new H5N1 outbreak.

Tough
Romania has
launched a
massive
poultry cull, after confirmation that bird flu discovered in the country
was H5N1. The village where the virus was discovered has been isolated, and
authorities are also creating a buffer zone of four counties. Pigs are being
rounded up, and hunting has been banned.

veterinary authority.

birds, following the discovery of flu antibodies in three farmyard ducks
found dead late last month. Test results are expected shortly, and will
