I started as
initial posting was as follows:
For those in the West
trying to live as Christians it sometimes seems that the whole culture is
conspiring against us.
Jesus preached a
message that was revolutionary in its day: love, forgiveness, service,
integrity, trust, humility, prayer, compassion, justice, and more. Yet too
often in our world today we see self-interest placed ahead of love and
compassion, rule by the powerful in place of justice and service, spin
instead of honesty and integrity.
The message of Jesus
has become revolutionary again. Christianity is the new counter-culture.
This website is
intended as a service to Christians trying to live under God in a
post-Christian world. I plan a daily weblog and regular articles and
interviews, as well as links to resources on the web. I hope we might also
The daily weblog
didn’t last long. It was a lot of work, and I was very happy to be able to
hand over blog duties to Bene Diction, a talented Canadian journalist now
blogging on here.
I initiated the
List of Christian Blogs, which was on my site for three months before
moving to blogs4God.
But I found I most
enjoyed writing slightly longer, reflective pieces, and I decided to
concentrate on these. I later changed the name of my site, to Martin Roth
In the long build-up
to war I became fascinated by the varying aspects of a Christian’s relation
to the military, and I wrote about that
(taking a generally pro-war stance). It was these pieces that have led to a
big increase in traffic to my site, particularly this year.
Altogether, in my one
year of existence I have received 130,000 unique visitors, and 180,000 page
views. This March, my best month, I had 19,800 visitors and 27,400 page
My most popular

I hope to write more
on the theme of
Living Like Jesus, with the dream of turning it into a book. Several
years ago I put together a lengthy proposal for a book about how the drift
away from a Bible-centred way of life actually threatened Western culture,
and advising Christians how to live out the stories of Jesus.
I entered the proposal
in a local competition for new Christian books. And came second. The winner
got $10,000. I got a laminated certificate. My book remains unwritten.
I have written a novel
– a thriller with a Christian theme - and am exploring ways of placing this
on the site (but charging visitors a small sum to read it).
And I’m sure there
will be many more adventures.
Thank you to all
visitors to this site. I have been blessed, and I pray that you have been
