Christian Blogging – Bigger and Better

Christian bloggers are exploding.

That’s how I started an article I wrote two-and-a-half years ago, on the then-novel phenomenon of Christian blogging, pointing to the fast-growing numbers of Christian bloggers.

Now, new things are happening.

Perhaps the most significant is the three-day GodBlog Conference, starting today at Biola University:

The conference will be an opportunity for Christian bloggers to network and learn about how blogging can be used to expand Christian influence in the blogging world. The conference will include speakers such as talk show host Hugh Hewitt, Dr. John Mark Reynolds of the Torrey Honors Institute, and Dr. Timothy Muehlhoff of Biola’s communications department.

Naturally, conference organizers have launched their own blog, and I was interested to read:

I have finished the search for a session leader for our "Turn your Blogging into a Writing Career" breakout session. James Scott Bell, novelist, screenwriter, and law commentator brings his immense amount of experience in the publishing industry to GodBlogCon. Bell is not only talented, but also eminently qualified to talk about how to develop a writing career. He also blogs at Suspend Your Disbelief.

That’s one session I’d like to attend.

Another recent development is the evolution of the excellent blogs4God directory of Christian blogs (which grew out of a list that started on this website). It’s attractive, it seems to have some talented new moderators and it’s full of excellent blogposts.

I’m sure there’s lots more happening, and I hope to write more in future.
